Ludwig Schmidt-Hackenberg has held various roles in the tech industry since 2006. Ludwig began their career as a Support Technologist at Accenture in 2006, followed by a Student Assistant role at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology in 2007. In 2008, they wrote a degree thesis at the same institute on "Development and Evaluation of a Method for Image Content Based Trademark Logo Retrieval". Ludwig then became a Research Intern at Telefónica Digital in 2009. From 2010 to 2018, they were a PhD Student (not completed) at the Techn. University of Kaiserslautern / TU, where they worked on efficient methods for object recognition using GPGPU programming using Python and CUDA. Ludwig then moved on to become a Computer Vision Engineer at EyeEm in 2014 and at Mobius Labs GmbH in 2018. In 2015, they also took on the role of Teacher for Deep Learning at Data Science Retreat, where they designed and executed a 2-day workshop on the basics of Deep Learning and Deep Learning for image classification as part of the three month full time boot camp. In 2020, they took a sabbatical and is currently a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at LiveEO since 2021.
Ludwig Schmidt-Hackenberg completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Computer Science at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau from 2010 to 2014. Ludwig also obtained a Diplomingenieur in Medientechnologie from Technische Universität Ilmenau between 2002 and 2009. In 2006, they participated in a Study Abroad program at Dublin City University, focusing on Engineering.
