Living Blue Zone is an international non-profit collective grounded in a shared conviction:
the ways of living observed in the world’s Blue Zones — regions where people live longer, healthier and more connected lives — offer valuable insights to rethink how we live, work and age in today’s societies.

Co-founded with Professor Michel Poulain, demographer and initiator of the Blue Zone concept, Living Blue Zone is rooted in internationally recognized demographic research on longevity. During his fieldwork, he famously circled in blue on a map the first regions identified for their exceptional longevity — a gesture that gave the Blue Zones their name.

Living Blue Zone does not promote a model to replicate nor a method to apply.
It acts as a platform for translation, connection and experimentation, helping diverse actors draw inspiration from these observed ways of living and adapt them to their own cultural, social and territorial contexts.

Our mission is to support, connect and give visibility to initiatives around the world that consciously bring to life the 7 core principles of the Living Blue, understood as guiding orientations rather than prescriptive rules:

Through knowledge sharing, dialogue, conferences, workshops, publications, field projects and international collaborations, Living Blue Zone connects researchers, experts, institutions, organizations, companies and local communities engaged in creating healthier, more humane and more sustainable environments.

Living Blue Zone is both a collective, a network and a living ecosystem of initiatives.
Our ambition is to weave a blue thread between science, lived experience and collective action, fostering environments that bring more life, connection and meaning — for people, communities and the planet.
