John Grounds

John Grounds, III, PhD, PE, CFM, D.WRE, is a seasoned professional in civil engineering with extensive experience in water resources management. Currently serving as the Director of Water Resources at LJA Engineering, Inc. since March 2013, John also contributes as a member of the SMU Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Board since 2006, promoting excellence in engineering education and supporting curriculum planning. Previously, John was the Manager of Grounds Anderson, LLC from 2004 to 2013 and held leadership roles as President of the Texas Floodplain Management Association from 2009 to 2011 and as Past President of the AWRA Board of Directors from 2001 to 2002. John's early career included a role as Project Manager at Halff Associates from 1995 to 2002. Educational qualifications include a PhD and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston, as well as a BS in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University.
