Sofia G. Simões

Sofia G. Simões is a Senior Researcher and Head of the Resource Economics Unit at LNEG, where they focus on the economics related to the decarbonization of energy systems. They have extensive experience in energy systems modeling, climate change mitigation policies, and materials use for energy transition. Previously, Sofia worked with various institutions, including the European Commission's Joint Research Centre and CENSE, contributing to significant environmental policies and projects in Portugal. They hold a PhD from Universiteit Leiden and a Master's in Environmental Management & Policy from Lund University.
