Catalin Florea

Catalin Florea is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in optical systems and research. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Lockheed Martin since August 2022, Catalin has also held the positions of Topical Editor and Chair of the Technical Group at The Optical Society (OSA) since December 2015. Previous roles include Lead Optical Systems Engineer and Optical Systems R&D Engineer at Honeywell from July 2018 to August 2022, as well as Optical Program Manager at Avo Photonics from 2013 to June 2018. Earlier in the career, Catalin worked as a Research Physicist at Sotera Defense Solutions, Inc. from 2005 to 2013, and at IMRA America, Inc. from 2002 to 2005. Catalin began as a Senior Research Physicist at Northstar Photonics, Inc. in 2002. Catalin holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan.
