Matthew Gilbertson is currently a Research Scientist Staff at Lockheed Martin Space Systems, where they work as an electro-optical engineer. Previously, they served as a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University in the CHARM Lab and were a Technical Staff member at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Matthew earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 2014 and has also taught a course on precision machine design at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. Their interests include precision machine design, robotics, and controls, alongside a passion for outdoor activities such as hiking and mountaineering.
