Max Shepherd is a 2023 and 2024 Astronaut Scholar with expertise in product management, research, and innovation within the fields of space, defense, national security, and clean energy. Currently serving as a Senior Project Engineer at Lockheed Martin, Max leads cross-functional teams to develop and pitch inclusion products for the enterprise Product Catalog, achieving significant executive approvals. Previously, Max conducted impactful research on hydrogen fuel cell systems in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and contributed to solutions for recycling space debris at the Colorado School of Mines. Additionally, Max has experience in business development at Sandia National Laboratories, focusing on national security partnerships. Max holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Technology Management from the Colorado School of Mines and has been recognized for their research contributions with several prestigious awards.
