Zack Carson

Zack Carson, PhD, is a highly experienced researcher and analyst in the fields of satellite operations, gravitational wave astrophysics, and machine learning. Currently serving as a Staff Satellite Operations Research Analyst at Lockheed Martin since December 2025, Zack previously worked with the United States Space Force as an Orbital Analyst, contributing to Space Domain Awareness. Concurrently, Zack has held a position as an Outreach Scientist at the University of Virginia, where educational outreach video games were developed in collaboration with undergraduate and high school students. Zack's experience in data science spans multiple roles, including work at Dataminr, where text and image-based machine learning models were created, and earlier positions at TruU, Inc. and the University of Virginia. Zack's academic background includes a PhD in Physics from the University of Virginia and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Utah.
