Baybars Orsek

Baybars Orsek is the Vice President of Fact-Checking at the U.K based global AI and tech startup Logically. He is the former director of the International Network and international programming at the Poynter Institute.

Before joining the International Fact-Checking Network; Orsek founded Turkey’s first and only political fact-checking project Dogruluk Payi (Share of Truth) in 2014 and Turkey’s open data platform Veri Kaynagi (Data Source), as the founding chairman of Turkey’s leading media non-profit Izlemedeyiz (On Watch).

Orsek organized Global Fact 6 in Cape Town in 2019 and Global Fact 9 in Oslo in 2022 while organizing two virtual Global Fact conferences in 2020 and 2021 amid the pandemic. His work has been featured by international outlets such as but not limited to; the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, Der Spiegel, BBC, and Voice of America.
