Mark Matossian, Ph.D.

Mark Matossian, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the technology and aerospace industries. Mark is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Lonestar Data Holdings Inc. Prior to this, Mark founded and served as the CEO of Efficient Frontier | SPACE, a consultancy specializing in business strategy, engineering, and operations for technology projects. Mark also worked as the Chief Executive Officer of ICEYE US, Inc., where they were responsible for all US operations and P&L.

Mark has also held several positions at Google, including Senior Technical Program Manager and Head of Program Management and Satellite Production & Launch at Terra Bella (formerly Skybox Imaging). In these roles, they led various projects related to virtual reality, satellite production, and flight operations. Mark also served as the Android Manufacturing and Supply Chain Program Manager for Android TV and played a key role in the launch of Google Mobile Wallet.

Additionally, Mark co-founded and advised Solstar Space Co., a startup focused on telecom services in LEO and suborbital markets. Mark was also the Director of Manufacturing Operations at GigaBeam Corporation, a millimeter wave radio manufacturer.

Earlier in their career, Mark worked at Answers.com as the Vice President of Finance and Operations. Mark was also the Launch/Operations Manager and International Negotiator at Teledesic Corporation, where they were responsible for business development and technical management of a global broadband telecommunications project.

Furthermore, Mark has experience working in research and development. Mark served as a National Science Foundation - Japan Research Fellow at JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and worked as a Staff Scientist at Science Applications International Corp.

Mark Matossian, Ph.D. has a diverse education history. In 1981, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Russian & Eastern European Studies from the University of Michigan. In 1988, they earned a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the same university.

During the same year, they also completed a Certificate in Space Studies from the International Space University. In 1991, they pursued a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, which they completed in 1993.

Mark went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Operations Research/Optimization from the University of Colorado Boulder, which they completed in 1995. Additionally, in 1984 they engaged in a Russian Language Intensive program at Saint Petersburg State University.
