Anthony Harness has a diverse work experience in the field of optical engineering and astrophysics. Anthony is currently working as a Senior Optical Engineer at LongPath Technologies, Inc. Prior to this, they worked at Princeton University as an Associate Research Scholar in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department and PI of the Starshade Lab. In this role, they focused on technology development of Starshade external occulters for the detection and characterization of exoplanets. Before joining Princeton University, Anthony worked as a NASA Space Technology Research Fellow at the University of Colorado, where they conducted research on visual sensors for formation flying of starshades and conducted astronomical observations. Anthony also served as a Graduate Research Assistant during their time at the University of Colorado. Earlier in their career, Anthony gained internship experience as an NSF REU Intern at the SETI Institute and as a DAAD RISE Intern at the University of Hamburg. Overall, Anthony's work experience highlights their expertise in optics and their contributions to the field of astrophysics.
Anthony Harness attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 2012 to 2016, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Astrophysics. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (MS) in Astrophysics at the same institution from 2010 to 2012. Anthony's undergraduate studies were carried out at the Florida Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2010. During this time, they earned three Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and Mathematical Sciences.
