Helen Riley

Helen Riley has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Helen started their career as a Financial Analyst at Morgan Stanley in 1996 and later worked as a Strategy Consultant at BCG from 2001 to 2003. Helen then joined Google in 2003, where they held various roles including Senior Financial Analyst, Finance Director for APAC & LatAm Sales Finance, Compliance & Operations, Finance Director for Finance Strategy & Analytics, and Senior Finance Director for Global Marketing & Global G&A. Their responsibilities at Google involved leading global finance and analytics efforts, managing budgets, developing marketing investment strategies, and overseeing business process improvements. In 2015, Helen joined X, the moonshot factory (formerly Google X) as the VP & Chief Financial/Operations Officer, where they oversaw various departments including Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Real Estate, Public Policy, Business Development, and several technical teams. Helen also had the responsibility of coordinating X's investment strategy across a portfolio of moonshot projects. Helen has also served as a Board Member and Audit Committee Chair at Marqeta, Inc since 2020, and as a Board Member and a member of the Audit & Compensation Committees at Eventbrite since 2018. Additionally, they have been an Advisory Board Member at Harvard Business School's California Research Center since 2016. Helen also contributed to the conservation efforts of WildAid as a Board Member, where they worked on the Finance & Compensation Committees from 2017 to 2021. Helen Riley pursued their education at the University of Oxford, where they completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Philosophy, Politics & Economics. Following this, they attended Harvard Business School from 1999 to 2001, earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
