Yaodong Cui's work experience includes being the co-founder, CIO, and perception team lead at LoopX, a startup focused on autonomy software and logistics solutions. They have also worked as a PHD candidate at the University of Waterloo, researching perception and deep learning for autonomous driving and developing perception algorithms for the WATonoBus project. Additionally, Yaodong has worked as a researcher at CogDrive Lab, focusing on sensor fusion and image and point cloud processing for autonomous driving. They also have experience as an Autonomy Engineer - Perception at In-Driving Tech, where they developed the perception module for the ATHENA autonomous driving platform.
Yaodong Cui obtained a Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineer Technology/Technician from Chang'an University, where they studied from 2013 to 2017. Following that, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) in system control and signal processing at the University of Southampton from 2017 to 2018. Yaodong then went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo from 2019 to 2021. Currently, they are pursuing another Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in deep learning at the University of Waterloo, which began in 2021 and is expected to conclude in 2023.
