My art is a dialogue between contrasts – light and dark, clarity and obscurity, emotional tension and relief. Rooted in my Chinese heritage and Western upbringing, each portrait delves beyond mere likeness to capture the essence of mood and feeling. My creative process is deeply human-centric, drawing from personal interactions and shared experiences. Through my brush, I explore and visualize the often-avoided emotions of our culture, seeking to process and overcome them. My work, characterized by its atmospheric looseness and vibrant, impetuous brushwork, invites viewers to find empathy, commonality, and ultimately healing. With a background in biblical counseling and fine art, and enriched by diverse global experiences, I aspire to facilitate healing and introspection, offering a pause in the hustle of life to connect with the 'other.' I paint for the contemplative soul, the one who embraces deep conversations and confronts uncomfortable feelings, believing that in these honest spaces, we find our most profound connections.
