Cameron Rutt

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Cameron Rutt is a highly experienced conservation ecologist, currently serving at the Field Museum since September 2024 and as an adjunct assistant professor at Louisiana State University since November 2020. Rutt has held significant positions including senior bird expert for the Map of Life during the X-Prize Rainforest Finals in Brazil, and lost birds science coordinator for the American Bird Conservancy, where collaboration with director John Mittermeier led to innovative methods for identifying "lost" bird species. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at George Mason University, a PhD candidacy at Louisiana State University, and various roles in field biology across notable organizations focused on avian research and conservation. Rutt holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Renewable Natural Resources from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Messiah University.
