John Tracy

Assistant Professor Of Forestry

John Tracy is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Louisiana State University, managing research projects related to wetland restoration in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, since May 2024. Prior to this role, John served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences from August 2020 to May 2024, working in Dr. Ajay Sharma's lab. John's extensive experience includes positions as a Forester at Louisiana Hardwood Products from June 2013 to June 2017, where responsibilities involved overseeing logging activities across vast forestland, and earlier as a Marine Fisheries Biologist with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, focusing on data collection in the Gulf coast fisheries. Additional experience includes internships with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, managing aquatic vegetation in wildlife refuges. John holds a PhD in Ecological Restoration from the University of Florida, a Master’s in Forestry from Mississippi State University, and a Bachelor's in Natural Resource Ecology and Management from Louisiana State University.
