Matthew Brand

Matthew Brand is currently an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University since January 2024, focusing on multi-scale process-based models of coastal systems to enhance understanding and inform climate adaptation. Previously, Matthew served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory from January 2021 to January 2024 and contributed as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Irvine from August 2016 to November 2022, where Matthew developed hydro-financial models under the SedRISE program. Academic roles include Graduate Teaching Assistant and Vice President of Internal Affairs for Associated Graduate Students at UC Irvine, promoting housing and financial improvements for graduate students. Entrepreneurial experience includes owning Rent a College Kid, a labor hiring business for local students, and teaching assistantship roles at the University of Vermont. Matthew holds a PhD in Hydrology and Water Resources Science from UC Irvine, alongside a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, both from the University of Vermont.
