Michael Murphy

Michael Murphy currently serves as the Roy O. Martin Lumber Company Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana State University, a position held since 1992. Expertise includes research in BioMEMS, microfluidics, modular microsystems design and fabrication, and biomechanics of the knee. Teaching responsibilities encompass design, system dynamics, and assembly. Prior experience includes work as an MTS at Hughes Aircraft Co in the Missile Systems Group from 1978 to 1985. Michael Murphy earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MS in Aeronautics from Caltech, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
