Stephen David Beck

Stephen David Beck serves as the Derryl & Helen Professor of Music at Louisiana State University, where a diverse career includes teaching composition, computer music, and research on digital media. With a notable background as an academic leader, Beck has held various critical roles, including Director of the School of Music and Associate Vice President for Research & Economic Development, promoting interdisciplinary research and overseeing compliance and grant programs. Co-founder of the Red Stick International Animation Festival, and a former president of SEAMUS, Beck has contributed significantly to the fields of electroacoustic music and computational research in the arts. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Music Composition and Theory from UCLA, where Beck also earned an M.A. and a B.A.
