Carolyn E. Car is the current Cellular Assay Team Leader at Lucerna. Carolyn has over ten years of experience in the field of science. Carolyn started their career as a Graduate Student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they researched the relationship between metal site structure and protein function of a variety of metalloproteins. After five years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Carolyn took a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where they determined complete thermodynamic profiles of a wide range of DNA structures with native modifications and sequences for the purposes of DNA structure prediction and targeting in vivo. After three years at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Carolyn took their current position as Cellular Assay Team Leader at Lucerna.
Dr. Carolyn E. Car earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2016, where their advisor was Dr. Michael Maroney. Carolyn earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2010, where their advisor was Dr. Ana de Bettencourt-Dias.
