Francesco Sciortino

Francesco Sciortino is an accomplished aviation executive currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at Austrian Airlines since April 2021. With extensive experience at Lufthansa as a Captain since November 2011, Francesco previously held leadership roles such as Managing Director and Accountable Manager at Germanwings GmbH from October 2017 to April 2021, and Managing Director at Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter mbH from August 2018 to April 2019. Francesco also worked as an Accountable Manager and Project Manager at SunExpress between February 2015 and September 2017. Prior to these roles, Francesco was the Nominated Person for Ground Operations at Lufthansa Italia from February 2009 to November 2011. Educational qualifications include a degree in Leading Strategic Growth and Change from Columbia Business School and an ATPL Commercial Pilot degree from Lufthansa Pilot School Bremen. Additionally, Francesco completed a program at IESE Business School in March 2020.
