Wouter Soer

Director, Product Development

Wouter Soer has a diverse work experience in the field of LED technology and product development. Wouter started their career at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs as a Visiting Researcher, where they collaborated on a research project studying defect dynamics in aluminum alloys. Wouter then moved on to Philips Research, where they worked as a Senior Scientist and led R&D projects in various areas including EUV lithography, healthcare, and lighting. At Philips Research, they also conducted process optimization for medical ultrasound transducers during a short-term assignment. Currently, Wouter is working at Lumileds as the Director of Product Development, where they lead early stage LED product and application development programs for illumination and displays. Wouter has also managed various collaborative R&D programs and won multiple DOE EERE R&D awards for their contributions in developing LED technologies. Overall, Wouter's expertise lies in technical research, project management, and collaborative partnerships in the LED industry.

Wouter Soer completed their education with a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Groningen in the years 2001-2005. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Applied Physics from the same university, spanning from 1996 to 2001. During the year 2001, they also briefly attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to study Materials Science and Engineering, although no specific degree was attained.
