DevOps Engineer of Security at Lumin

Dustin Smith is currently a DevOps Engineer of Security at Lumin. Prior to this, they worked as a Cloud Support Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from February 2020 to September 2020. In this role, they provided technical support for popular DevOps-related AWS services, used knowledge of Linux, networking, and DevOps to dive deep on customer issues to replicate problems and determine solutions and workarounds, and reported bugs with detailed replication steps and descriptions to internal teams to be patched out. Before their time at AWS, Dustin was an IT DevOps Technician at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute from October 2019 to January 2020, where they added container vulnerability scanning to an existing GitLab CI pipeline with Clair, worked on a Python script to automatically audit Windows-based permissions on network shares via Linux by using Samba tools, and assisted support technicians with outstanding tickets and provisioning of new hardware and software. Dustin's first foray into the tech industry was as a Cybersecurity Researcher at Siemens from December 2020 to March 2022. Dustin began their career at Siemens as an Intern - DevOps Security Tool Chain Integration from May 2019 to August 2019.

Dustin Smith has an unfinished Bachelor's degree in Computational Modeling and Data Analytics from Virginia Tech. Dustin also has an Associate of Science - AS in Science from Patrick & Henry Community College.
