Philip Caplan has a long and varied work experience. Philip began working in 2010 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at McGill University. In 2012, they moved to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a System Administrator and Research Assistant. In 2014, they worked as an Engineer at The MathWorks. From 2015 to 2019, they held the roles of Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at MIT, where they assisted with labs centered around a water rocket competition in the Fall and a flight competition in the Spring. From 2019 to 2022, they were an Assistant Professor and Visiting Assistant Professor at Middlebury College. Currently, they are an Engineer at Luminary Cloud.
Philip Caplan obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University between 2008 and 2012. Philip then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 2012 and 2014. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 2015 and 2019.
