Andrew Walz

Andrew Walz has a diverse work experience in technology-related roles. Andrew started their career as a Web Master/Programmer at ALT-KIE Computer Consultants, Inc. from 1999 to 2001. Andrew then worked as a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to C/C++ Programming at the University of Minnesota - Department of Computer Science from 2001 to 2002. In 2003, they joined Wilderness Inquiry where they served as a Senior Trail Guide, facilitating outdoor experiences for people of all ages and abilities. At Wilderness Inquiry, they also took on the role of Program and Technology Director, developing and maintaining internal database systems and websites, as well as training staff. From 2010 to 2013, they became a Board Member/CTO at Friends of Ngong Road. Andrew then worked as an Independent Consultant from 2012 to 2016, specializing in GIS, FileMaker Pro, iOS, and web development for various organizations. Most recently, they worked at LuminFire as a GIS & System Engineer.

Andrew Walz has a strong educational background in both technical and outdoor fields. Andrew obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Math from the University of Minnesota from 1998 to 2002. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Geographic Information Science degree at the same university from 2012 to 2014, specializing in GIS.

In addition to their formal education, Andrew has also acquired several certifications. Andrew became a FileMaker 15 Certified Developer in July 2016 and later obtained the FileMaker 16 Certified Developer certification in July 2017. These certifications were granted by FileMaker Inc., an Apple subsidiary. Andrew also completed HIPAA Security Training provided by HIPAA Secure Now! in October 2016.

Furthermore, Andrew holds a certification in Wilderness First Responder. The institution from which they obtained this certification is NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI). However, the specific month and year in which they earned this certification are not provided.
