Gerard Espona

Gerard Espona has a long and varied work experience. Starting in 2001, they worked as a Software Engineer and Consultant for SBD Technologies. In 2003, they became a Project Director and Machine Vision I+D Engineer for E2M. From 2004 to 2008, they worked for Daem Interactive as a CTO and Computer Vision I+D Engineer, designing and developing Mobile Marketing Platforms based on Augmented Reality. In 2008, they took on the role of CTO for ADSMEDIA. In 2009, they were the Technical & Innovation Manager and CTO for Eurostar Mediagroup, as well as the Founder and CTO for Equalia - People to People. From 2013 to 2016, they were a Mobile Application Analyst for ISIS Papyrus Software, and a Senior iOS Developer and CTO/VP Engineering for Instaply. In 2021, they began working as a Spatial AI Dev and Simulation Lead (Unity Plugin, Digital Twins and Synthetic Datasets) for Luxonis.

Gerard Espona has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1995-2001). Gerard also completed a Postgraduate in Computer Vision from the Computer Vision Center (2001-2002) and a Postgraduate in Direccion de Sistemas de Información from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2006-2007). In 2010, they completed a Technical Course in iPhone OS Development from La Salle BES. In 2013, they completed a Gestion de Proyectos - SCRUM course from MediaTIC - Cibernarium. Gerard also attended the dotSwift Conferences in Paris (2016) and the Microsoft Bots and Cognitive Services Hackaton in Chicago (2017). Gerard is a 2021 Phase 1 Finalist of the OpenCV AI Competition, certified by OpenCV.
