Michael Washington

Michael Washington serves as a Superior Court Judge for the State of California since September 2013. In addition to this role, Michael is the Podcast Host and Founder of Brothers, Y’all Good?, starting in January 2025, and provides instruction on trial and deposition skills as faculty for the NITA National Institute of Trial Advocacy since October 1997. Michael founded the JustUs Partners Foundation in March 2019, a charitable organization focused on supporting underserved communities. Prior experience includes serving as an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Trial Advocacy at the University of San Diego School of Law from January 2003 to April 2014 and as a Deputy Public Defender in San Diego for nearly two decades, handling serious felony cases. Michael contributes to global legal education as faculty for Lawyers Without Borders since November 2010. Academic credentials include a B.S. in Accounting from San Diego State University and a J.D. from California Western School of Law.
