Brian Zelip

Front End Developer, ArchivesSpace at Lyrasis

Brian Zelip has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Brian is currently working as a Front End Developer for ArchivesSpace at LYRASIS since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Assistant Director at the Network of the National Library of Medicine Web Services Office from February 2022 to October 2022. From June 2015 to February 2022, Brian worked as an Emerging Technologies Librarian at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB).

Before joining UMB, they served as a Graduate Assistant at Scholarly Commons, University Library, University of Illinois from June 2013 to May 2015. Additionally, Brian was a Member of the Board of Directors at Prairie Air/WEFT-FM from December 2011 to January 2015.

During their time at the University of Illinois, Brian also worked as a Front End Web Developer intern for the Technology Prototyping Service from January 2014 to May 2014. Brian also held positions at the Community Informatics Lab, Graduate School of Library & Information Science, University of Illinois, as a Center for Digital Inclusion Fellow from August 2012 to May 2013, and as a Research Analyst from August 2010 to August 2012.

Brian's earlier work experience includes being a Field Coordinator at Toledo GROWs from 2007 to 2010 and serving as a Co-founder/Organizer at ToledoHipHop.org from 2005 to 2007.

Brian Zelip has a strong education background in the fields of Library and Information Science, Africana Studies, and Communication. Brian completed their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Graduate School of Library & Information Science from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they pursued a M.L.S. degree in Africana Studies at The University of Toledo, from 1999 to 2002. Brian'sundergraduate education was also at The University of Toledo, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication (Broadcasting) from 1994 to 1999.
