Senior Strategist, Content & Scholarly Communication Initiatives at Lyrasis

Michael Rodriguez has a diverse work experience in the library and information science field. Michael began their career at the Collier County Public Library as a Library Assistant, where they managed circulation and shelving, assisted patrons with research and technology, and contributed to the library's newsletter. Michael then worked at Hodges University as an Assistant Professor and E-Learning Librarian, where they took on various responsibilities such as managing e-resources, redesigning the library website, advising on copyright and fair use, and developing the institutional repository. After that, they joined the University of Connecticut as an Electronic Resources Librarian, where they managed the implementation of new EZproxy hosted solutions and chaired the Authentication and Authorization Working Group. Michael later took on the role of Licensing & Acquisitions Librarian, where they spearheaded licensing and acquisitions efforts with a significant budget. Michael also co-chaired the Boston Library Consortium's Controlled Digital Lending Working Group and achieved substantial cost savings through vendor buyouts. Most recently, they have been working at Lyrasis as a Strategist and Senior Strategist, focusing on content and scholarly communication initiatives.

Michael Rodriguez has a comprehensive education history in the field of library and information studies. Michael obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University in 2014. In 2019, they attended Harvard University's Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians, although the specific degree obtained is not mentioned.

In addition to their graduate studies, Michael also pursued coursework in Information Systems Management at Hodges University, earning a Master of Information Systems (MIS) degree in 2015.
