Priscilla Caplan

Assistant Director of Technology Services for Service Delivery at Lyrasis

Priscilla Caplan has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Priscilla began their career at Harvard University Library in 1979, where they worked as a Systems Librarian and Head of Systems Development. In 1993, they joined the University of Chicago Library as the Assistant Director for Systems, overseeing the Library Management System and desktop computing. In 1999, they joined the Florida Center for Library Automation as an Assistant Director, managing a team that designed and developed digital preservation systems. Priscilla also implemented various services for the use of librarians and library users. In 2012, they worked at the Florida Virtual Campus as the Assistant Director for Digital Library Services. Priscilla then moved to Florida State University in 2013, serving as Visiting Faculty. From 2014 to 2015, they held roles at LYRASIS, first as the Assistant Director of Technology Services for Service Delivery and then as the Director of Digital Technology Services. Since 2015, they have been retired, spending their time writing, gardening, volunteering, and spending time with family.

Priscilla Caplan pursued their education at Harvard University from 1970 to 1974, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Literature. Later, in 1978 and 1979, they attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to obtain a Master of Library Science degree specializing in Library and Information Science.
