Justin Smith

Justin Smith is a software engineer who currently works as the tech lead at M.Gemi. Justin has over three years of experience in the industry, having worked previously at Swirl Networks from October 2015 to July 2018. At Swirl Networks, Justin was responsible for a document conversion component that interfaced with a third-party RTF and PDF converter service, and performed text extraction on the XHTML returned by the service. Justin also provided significant resources toward resolving a critical bug in a legacy electronic signature application.

In their current role at M.Gemi, Justin is responsible for leading a team of engineers in developing and maintaining a complex multi-tier framework that provides an interface to submit documents to several varieties of medical code extrating engines, and retrieve results for use in electronic health record systems. Justin has also contributed toward a unique web-based editor designed to prompt doctors to clarify details of medical reports.

Justin Smith began their educational career by earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern Maine. Justin then went on to pursue a career in the computer science field.

Justin Smith reports to Maria Gangemi, Co-Founder & Chief Merchant. They work with Trevor Lunn - Chief Creative Officer, Jess Gallagher - VP, Programming, and Joyce Wang - VP, Strategy & Finance.
