Andy Simms has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Andy is currently the Engineering Director - Regional Hire at Mabey Hire Ltd, where they have been since 2020. In this role, they oversee engineering operations in the region.
Prior to this, Andy worked at Vp plc as a Major Projects Manager from 2018 to 2020. Andy was responsible for managing major projects within the company.
From 2010 to 2017, Andy worked at MGF. During this time, they held various roles including Major Projects Design Manager, Design Manager, Senior Engineer, and Project Engineer. Andy was involved in the management and delivery of engineering designs, mentoring junior engineers, and implementing business improvement initiatives.
Before joining MGF, Andy briefly worked at Balfour Beatty plc as a Chain Person / Site Engineer in 2010. Andy also had a trainee role as a Site Engineer at Birse Coastal Ltd in 2009.
Additionally, Andy gained experience outside the engineering field as a Produce Assistant at Sainsburys Supermarkets Ltd from 2004 to 2009.
Andy Simms attended The University of Manchester from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained a 1st Class Honours [MEng] degree in Civil & Structural Engineering. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the CPCS Appointed Person certification from CITB in January 2021. In 2019, they became a Chartered Civil Engineer through the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and a Chartered Engineer through the Engineering Council. Andy also holds a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) certification, although the specific details regarding its completion are not provided.
