Eric Sears

Eric Sears serves as the Director of Technology in the Public Interest at the MacArthur Foundation, where responsibilities include managing a multimillion-dollar grantmaking portfolio aimed at addressing the social implications of machine intelligence and strengthening civil liberties in the digital age. Previous experience includes roles as Program Officer for the Crimes Against Humanity Program at Human Rights First, where advocacy strategies were designed to address human rights emergencies, and Project Manager at Amnesty International USA, managing a significant counter-terrorism and human rights campaign. Eric's educational background includes a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies and Political Science from Saint Louis University and a Masters of Science in Human Rights from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
