Michael Varela

Michael Varela, Ph.D., is a Learning Solutions Specialist in Chemistry at Macmillan Learning since May 2016, providing consultation to Sales and Marketing Teams to enhance the efficiency of Chemistry products. Prior to this role, Michael served as Instructional Support Team Manager and Technology TA at Sapling Learning/Macmillan Publishing, where responsibilities included improving content efficiency and creating online homework questions for chemistry courses. Michael's earlier experience includes work as a Staff Scientist at Signature Science, LLC, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Texas at Austin, focusing on synthetic chemistry research. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and a BA in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis, along with a solid educational background from Hartnell College and Palma School.
