In January of 2009, the newly formed Macomb County Medical Control Authority (MCMCA) was established and owned by five Macomb County Hospitals and one free-standing Outpatient Surgical Facility. The MCMCA assumed formal responsibility for oversight of Emergency Medical Services within the County. Previous to this time, the Medical Control Authority (MCA) was administered by the Macomb County Health Department in collaboration with the Hospitals within the County. Today, the MCMCA is owned by the following Hospitals and Free-Standing Surgical and Emergency Centers. These facilities are either located in Macomb County or border Macomb County and receive patients from the County.
