Richard Race

Richard Race has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Richard started their career in 2012 as a Summit Week Guide at Nortlander Skitours. In 2013, they worked as a Demonstrator at Aberystwyth University and later became the Vice President at Abersnow. From 2013 to 2015, Richard was a Junior Ruby on Rails and JavaScript Developer at Fitzdares.

In 2015, Richard joined YOUgroup as a Full Stack Software Developer, where they collaborated with a small team to develop various internal and external projects. Richard played a key role in designing and implementing an MVP that became the company's flagship product.

Richard transitioned to Made Tech in 2019, taking on the role of Senior Software Engineer. Richard was responsible for ensuring technical quality and introducing new technologies and techniques. Richard actively contributed to leveraging technology to improve public services in the UK by working with public sector organizations. Richard then advanced to the position of Lead Engineer, where they turned client needs into roadmaps and business cases while coaching teams to deliver high-quality software. Richard had commercial responsibility and ownership over the software their team produced.

Richard also had several temporary roles through Made Tech. Richard worked as a Senior Software Engineer at the Department for Education for a short period in 2019. In 2020, Richard served as a Technical Architect at The Legal Aid Agency and contributed to modernizing their technology. In 2021, they became a Technical Lead at the Ministry of Justice UK, continuing their work through Made Tech.

In addition to their professional experiences, Richard has also demonstrated excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills in their roles, where they developed and maintained microservices, provided solutions to user needs, and modernized tech stacks.

Richard Race obtained a BTEC degree in IT Practitioners from Cheshire College - South & West, where they studied from 2006 to 2008. Richard then pursued a Master in Engineering (MEng) degree in Software Engineering from Aberystwyth University, where they studied from 2008 to 2013. In 2019, Richard obtained certification as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
