Edison Chen

Edison (Zhengyu) Chen is a skilled professional with extensive experience in machine learning and engineering. Currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at Magic since August 2025, Edison previously held multiple roles at SambaNova Systems from June 2020 to August 2025, including Senior Principal Engineer and ML Engineering Manager, where responsibilities involved LLM product development and deployment, as well as managing ML applications in GNN and NLP. Prior experience includes a doctoral student role at Northwestern University focusing on AI/ML hardware accelerator design and a brief internship with Google in 2019 on the Hardware TPU Team. Edison holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from Northwestern University and a Master of Engineering from Cornell University, alongside earlier studies in Electronic Computer Engineering.
