Magpie Mahjong brings the joy, strategy, and community of American mahjong to life in St. Louis and beyond. We offer beginner-friendly classes, guided play, events, and private lessons that make learning this wonderfully social and mentally stimulating game simple, fun, and stylish.

Whether you’re starting with Mahjong 101, building confidence in Mahjong 102, or gathering friends for guided play or open-play events, Magpie Mahjong meets you where you are—no prior experience required. Our lessons follow the National Mah Jongg League rules and also embrace modern house rules and gameplay nuances that keep game night lively and approachable.

Founded by a passionate player and instructor who believes mahjong is more than a game—it’s a way to connect, laugh, think, and grow community—Magpie Mahjong specializes in creating welcoming experiences where learning and social connection go hand-in-hand. The name Magpie reflects our love of clever strategy, sparkling conversation, and the joy of gathering around a table with others.

We partner with local venues and host events throughout St. Louis and mid-Missouri, and we’re also available for private group lessons and events wherever your circle gathers. Whether you’re looking to build a new hobby, strengthen friendships, or foster connection through play, Magpie Mahjong is your gateway to learning, community, and the timeless fun of mahjong.
