Kathi Petersen

Kathi Petersen, MPA, currently serves as the Communications Manager at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) since September 2022. Prior to this role, Kathi held the position of Public Information Manager at the Explore Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau from October 2019 to August 2022. Kathi has extensive experience in public relations and communications, having founded KP Communications in Asheville, where Kathi served as PR/Communications Strategist for two decades, working with various businesses and nonprofits. Previous roles include Director of Research & Communications at Infrastructure Services Group LLC, Director of Communications at The Collider, and Executive Director of Operations at AdvantageWest Economic Development Group. Kathi's background encompasses significant contributions to the healthcare and senior services sectors, as well as various industries including sports, tourism, and economic development.
