Misty Cox is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in health education and workforce development, currently serving as Regional Manager at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) since October 2018, where responsibilities include liaising for southernmost counties in western North Carolina and fostering innovative health career programming. Mountain Area Health Education Center - MAHEC
The Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) is a leader in healthcare practice, education, innovation and research, and is the home of UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC and UNC Asheville-UNC Gillings Master of Public Health (MPH) Program. Located in Asheville, MAHEC serves a 16-county region in Western North Carolina. We are the largest Area Health Education Center in North Carolina, which evolved to address national and state concerns with the supply, retention and quality of health professionals. MAHEC provides patient care at nine Family Health Centers, two Ob/Gyn Specialists and two Dental Health Centers across the region. We are the only high-risk obstetrics practice in the region and a safety net provider.
