Cameron Smith

GM, APAC & Offshore at Mainstream Renewable Power

Cameron is the General Manager APAC and Offshore where he leads the European offshore, US and APAC teams. Cameron heads the development teams bidding to secure and develop offshore wind projects in the waters around the English, Scottish and Irish coasts, and in the seas around the east and west coast of the US. He supports regional general managers in pushing into new offshore markets including Vietnam, Japan and others.

Prior to re-joining Mainstream in April 2019, Cameron held the post of Director of Business Development and Public Affairs at SIMEC Atlantis, before which he held the post of Chief Operating Officer for Mainstream’s offshore wind business where he led the teams that successfully consented the Hornsea and Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farms Cameron has 28 years’ experience in the construction, energy and heavy manufacturing sectors with 19 years specialising in developing and delivering renewable energy projects from inception to operation.

He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and holds a Master’s degree from Strathclyde Graduate Business School. Cameron co-Chairs UK-based Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult Floating Offshore Wind Centre of Excellence (FOWCoE) to drive forward the development of next-generation offshore wind technologies.
