Zakia Afrin

Zakia Afrin is a dedicated human rights activist and academic, currently serving as the Director of Survivor Advocacy at Maitri and as a Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University. They are the founder of Aynerkotha.com, a platform aimed at educating the Bangla-speaking community about their rights. Previously, Zakia coordinated campaigns for women's rights at Amnesty International USA and held various roles at Maitri, including Legal Program Manager. They have also contributed as a board member for the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence and SpaandanB, a charitable organization serving Bangladesh. Zakia's education includes an SJD from Golden Gate University and ongoing studies in law at Dhaka University, Bangladesh.
