Maji Safi Group is a disease prevention and health promotion project that empowers communities in rural Tanzania to fight waterborne and water-related diseases.

The Maji Safi Group empowers rural Tanzanian women and communities to prevent disease by building and supporting networks of collaboration. Our approach is to utilize women’s power as drivers of development to achieve the fundamental human right to water, hygiene and sanitation through innovative participatory educational techniques.

A core belief of the Maji Safi Group (MSG) is that preventable diseases can be avoided by taking a community-led approach by empowering women and children to promote disease prevention. MSG's strategy is to train and employ local women as Community Water Workers to be hygiene, sanitation, and health promotion ambassadors for the community.
