Marcus Horning has extensive experience in urban planning and city development, currently serving as the Director of City Planning for Malmö stad since August 2019 and also as the Chairman of Nordic City Network since April 2025. Previously, Marcus held various leadership roles, including the position of Chairman at Malbas Basketbollklubb from September 2017 to August 2023, and Director of City Planning for Lunds kommun from March 2016 to August 2019. In the earlier part of the career, Marcus was the first Head of the Growth Department in Eslövs kommun, overseeing a multidisciplinary team focused on growth-promoting initiatives. Additional roles included leadership positions at SPIS - Spårvagnar i Skåne and Atkins, further demonstrating expertise in urban planning and environmental studies. Marcus holds a Master's degree in Cultural Geography from Lund University, completed in 2000.
