Senior Malware Researcher / Mac & Linux Technical Lead at Malwarebytes

Marcelo Rivero started their career at Microsoft in 2001 as a Technical Support Specialist. In 2004, they founded InfoSpyware, where they worked until 2016. At InfoSpyware, Marcelo was responsible for malware research and analysis, as well as security blogging. From 2016 to the present, they have been employed at Malwarebytes. In their current role as a Senior Malware Researcher and Mac & Linux Technical Lead, Marcelo leads malware research on non-standard threats targeting Linux and macOS platforms. Marcelo also directs ransomware threat intelligence, spearheads the development of enhanced threat detection signatures, and ensures high-level protection and performance in the MBLinux and MBmacOS products. Prior to their current role, they worked as a Threat Intelligence Analyst at Malwarebytes, where they conducted malware research and analysis on various platforms, tracked ransomware campaigns, delivered threat intelligence reports and briefings, and addressed customer concerns regarding threat detection.

Marcelo Rivero earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from Universidad ORT Uruguay, from 1996 to 2001. Marcelo also obtained the MVP Alumni certification from Microsoft in January 2011.
