Beta Ziliani is the Head of the Theory of Computation Group at ORT University and a Steering Councillor of the Crystal programming language. With 11 years of experience in the software industry, Beta completed a MSc thesis at FCEyN, UBA in Argentina, and then earned a PhD in Computer Science from Universität des Saarlandes and the Max-Planck Institute for Software Systems in Germany. After a postdoctoral role in Argentina, Beta worked as a researcher and was promoted to Adjunct Researcher at CONICET. Currently, Beta serves as an Associate Lecturer at FAMAF, UNC, where they enjoy teaching Advanced Concepts of Programming Languages. In addition to their academic pursuits, Beta has been the Team Lead and Product Manager for the Crystal programming language at Manas.Tech since 2021.
