David Kendall has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. David most recently served as the Chief Medical Officer at MannKind Corporation since February 2018. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President - Global Medical Affairs at Eli Lilly and Company from June 2014 to February 2018. David also served as the Distinguished Medical Fellow at Eli Lilly and Company from July 2011 to June 2014. Before joining Eli Lilly, David was an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Minnesota from June 1999 to December 2014. David has also held prominent roles such as Chief Scientific and Medical Officer at the American Diabetes Association from July 2009 to July 2011, Medical Director at the International Diabetes Center from May 2008 to September 2009, and Executive Director - Medical Affairs at Amylin Pharmaceuticals from November 2005 to June 2008. David's early career also included positions as Medical Director and Chief of Clinical Services at the International Diabetes Center from May 1997 to January 2006, and Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview from January 1994 to June 1997.
David Kendall attended St. Olaf College from 1979 to 1983, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with summa cum laude honors. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Minnesota Medical School from 1984 to 1988 and completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with a focus on Medicine. After obtaining their MD, they continued their education at the same institution from 1988 to 1994, specializing in Internal Medicine with a specific focus on Diabetes and Endocrinology.
