Matt Whelan

Matt Whelan is a mariner, wilderness guide, and writer and photographer whose work appears in newspapers and magazines worldwide. They served as a Deckhand and Quartermaster with the Canadian Coast Guard from 2015 to 2017 and have guided for Ocean EcoVentures since 2017. In addition, they have held the position of Captain at Maple Leaf Adventures since 2017 and worked as a Whale Watching Guide for Prince of Whales from 2012 to 2017. Matt also operated as a photographer for Coast Mountain Photography from 2012 to 2014 and has been running their own writing and photography business since 2011. Matt earned a diploma in Journalism and Photography from the Western Academy of Photography in 2012.
