Steve Weitzman is the General Counsel at MaplesFS, overseeing all legal matters in ten countries since December 2010 and managing the legal team and budget. Prior to this, Steve worked in the investment funds group at Maples and Calder, advising on hedge fund and private equity formation and regulatory compliance. Steve also served as a scuba instructor and boat captain at Seven Mile Watersports and Eden Rock Dive Centre during a sabbatical from law, holding certifications as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and in CPR/First-Aid. Before transitioning to MaplesFS, Steve was a Senior Associate at Seward & Kissel LLP, leading securitization and structured finance transactions. Steve holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland.
