Doug Edwards is an experienced professional with a diverse background in marketing, communication, and non-profit service. Currently serving as the Board Chair and Board member for MapLight since 2011, Edwards contributes to research that reveals the relationships between political contributions and policy decisions. Previously, Edwards held roles such as Board Member at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and authored "I'm Feeling Lucky: Confessions of Google Employee Number 59," with a narrating credit for the audiobook version, which was a finalist for a 2012 Audie award. Edwards was Google's first marketing director, overseeing key aspects of consumer messaging prior to joining the San Jose Mercury News as Brand Group Manager. Earlier professional experiences also include roles at KQED and Marketplace by APM, where significant international reporting was conducted. Edwards holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University, a Certificate in Japanese Language and Culture from Nanzan University, and an A.B. in Honors English and American Literature from Brown University.
